Meet the EE Team: Tyler, our Customer Service Department

Tyler Towles, whose name does not rhyme with "towels".

When Tyler first started it was guaranteed that you would talk to him when you gave us a call. With the growth that we've experienced over the past year he is now running a team that does most of that now. He took over our customer service department about two years ago, which at the time meant he did it all himself. Now, he has a team of two gurus, both with a lot of camping experience, who do their best to answer all your questions.

This personal approach has been a big key to our success. Purchasing a quilt is a big investment for most people, and so knowing they can give a call or shoot an email over and get a real answer from a real person goes a long way to building trust with our customers. For those calling or emailing us, we thought it would be nice to put a face to the guy behind the customer service so we threw together a little interview with him to share. Enjoy!

So Tyler. What's your name, age, social security number, and where are you from originally?

I'm Tyler Towles, 29 years old, ssn ***-**-****, and originally from Michigan.

Tell us a bit about your outdoors experience. How'd you get into it?

My family would go car camping every year for the 4th of July, and over time we just went on more and more trips. Later on I met Tim (Marshall, who would go on to start Enlightened Equipment), he took me on an ultralight hike and I was hooked.

What's the coldest you've ever slept outside?

I went on a hunting trip with my father once... The temps got down to the 20's and we did not have the right gear .It's probably why I've really only done summer and fall camping since.

Any big hike plans or areas you'd like to visit in the future?

I'm looking to do the Michigan Coast To Coast Hike next year which runs 220 miles across Michigan.

Coolest campsite?

The Manistee River Trail takes you past a dam. There's a campsite at the base of the dam where the river turns which is very beautiful.

What do you do when you're not helping customers?

In no particular order: hiking, biking, fishing, racquetball, and videogames.

Luxury item you don't leave behind?

A pillow.

Lightning Round! Which do you prefer?

Mountains or Deserts?

Coniferous or Deciduous Forests?

Revelation or Enigma?

Rivers or Lakes?

Hammock, Tent, Bivy, Or Tarp?

Definitely hammock.

Is The Dress black and blue, or yellow and white?

Yes it is.
