Equally at home on an alpine approach and a windswept lake, the Torrid Jacket offers warmth, wind protection, and moisture resistance at an ultralight weight. Designed to keep you warm while keeping your pack light, the jacket starts at just 7.75 ounces (220g). Built using 2oz/yd² CLIMASHIELD™ APEX synthetic insulation, the Torrid maintains warmth and breathability even when damp.

The smooth ultralight nylon fabric has a durable water repellent finish for better performance in light precipitation. The adjustable waistband and elastic cuffs keep warmth in and cold out. The optional hood adjusts with a shock cord, and a grosgrain zipper garage at the chin increases comfort. Zippered pockets keep the essentials at hand. The Torrid Jacket is slightly oversized to accommodate layers, and has raglan sleeves for a full range of movement. For those who won’t let weather get in the way, the Torrid Jacket is the perfect 3-season layer.

Seems great, runs small

I ordered the small as I am right on the edge in the size chart (99 cm) and I always wear small sizes (my height is 167cm). It also states that the jacket is a bit larger to it can fit more layers.
My jacket arrived smaller than I would like it to be... especially in the chest area. The weird thing is that I have a bit of a large belly at the moment (damn you quarantine) and the only the chest is a bit tight, the belly area is fine (with only a t shirt on).

Length wise this jacket is very long for me, which is a good thing, though maybe a size up would be too long.

So I guess make sure that if you are on the edge of the size range, size up.

Questionable Durability & Large for Size

I received my Torrid Apex custom size Medium and I found a 2 inch stitching defect in the left pocket. This was a huge bummer as I was about to go out on a hike and needed to send my jacket pack for a fix. I don't think the 10% discount EE offered is worth the annoyance of being without my new item and sending it through the mail. I expected a lot more attention to detail from a very expensive purchase. The durability will be on my mind constantly and I feel like I will need to treat this jacket very delicately, which is not what I look for in a warming layer.

I ordered a size medium and it is very large compared to my other medium jackets, too large just for layering purposes. It is very long length for a medium so it looks a bit odd.

Good things about the jacket: light weight, compressible, good elastic around the wrist keeping out the elements, can take the hood on and off without having to unzip.
