Created for those who want to pack light and go far no matter the weather, the Visp rain jacket boasts wind and rain protection in an ultralight package. Made with a customized 3-layer waterproof/breathable fabric, it’s fully stormproof, yet has an exceptionally breathable feel. Weighing in at around 5 ounces for most sizes, you’ll barely know it’s in your pack until you need it.

The customized 3-layer fabric combines ultralight 7D ripstop nylon, a waterproof/breathable ePTFE membrane, and a soft tricot lining for a comfortable next-to-skin feel. A waterproof YKK Uretek front zipper and pit zips zipper keeps moisture from coming in the front or under arms. The hood adjusts along the front and the back, so you can keep it in place while maintaining your peripheral vision. The waistband adjusts with a light shock cord, and the droptail hem offers extra coverage in the back so it doesn’t ride up under your pack. The generous sleeve length is built for hand coverage, and the wrists adjust with a durable velcro cuff tab. You can wear the Visp alone to shed wind and rain, or pair it with a Torrid APEX jacket for a highly effective, ultralight jacket system.

If you want a color that isn't available here, consider ordering a custom Visp Jacket

Visp jacket

I haven't had it out in the rain yet, no rain here since it arrived. But I have to say that it is the lightest, best-fitting jacket I have ever owned in my 75 years of running around outside. At 6'6" and 280 lb, other jackets were just adequate, even the 2XLTs, especially in the sleeves. This one has plenty of room for layers but not a bit too much. The pit zips are a must, no pockets takes a little getting used to but it's OK. The real test will be hiking uphill in the rain with a heavy pack, I'll let you know once the high country opens up.

First impression

I bought this jacket as part of an ultralight layering system that I will pair with the Apex synthetic.
Having not really tested it out yet I can't comment on durability or waterproofness but I'm not worried because Enlightened is always top notch!
It is impressively lightweight and I look forward to carrying it this summer on my backpacking adventures.
