Built with ultralight Charcoal 7D sil/PU nylon, the Rival tarp offers full coverage in a tiny package. It’s factory seam-taped and fully waterproof to keep you nice and dry through the night. The Rival comes with 7 reinforced tie-out points so you can pitch the Rival using your trekking poles, sticks, nearby trees, or stakes. Ridgeline tie-outs and generous length allow you to pitch the foot end more vertically with full storm coverage. Designed to pair with the Recon bivy, the Rival includes interior loops at the head and foot end for easy attachment. Tie-out points include LineLocs for quick tension adjustments, and the LineLocs are girth-hitched in place so you can easily remove them. You can choose between three fabric colors.

This is the perfect addition to your pack to keep your sleep system simple, ultralight, and effective.

Light and Tiny

This is a nifty little shelter that pairs perfectly with a bivy. I don't have the EE bivy (yet!) but the one I used fit comfortably inside. It is a tight fit, but if you're bivy sleeping, that doesn't matter to you.

I've spent about 12 nights in the rain under this tarp and stayed mostly dry. Weirdly enough, condensation from my breath and the wet ground wasn't about to dry completely and collected on the inside of the tarp, even with ventilation all the way around. I would strongly recommend a ground sheet to help keep ground moisture underneath instead of overhead.

There's a bit of finagling to set it up, but practice a couple times and you'll get it no sweat. It's amusing to me that a shelter so small and light needs so many stakes to get really dialed in, but I took it through some very serious winds and it stayed put and cut right through. Feet towards the wind!

All in all, this thing is great for perfect weather and does just fine if it goes to pot. Mine weighed in at exactly 6.9oz and is about the size of a 20oz bottle of soda.
