Essential gear for cold weather camping!
Ive had the chance to use these in the pants this past October in Glacier and all winter in the White Mountains ranging from temperatures from the 20's to -10 F and can say that they have become a integral part of my cold weather laying system. They are lighter than my midweight leggings (6.3 oz - size small) and unbelievably warm! I find myself bringing them more often than not when I know I am going to be hanging around camp for several hours before crawling into the hammock and would definitely recommend them to anyone that does any type of cold weather camping!
Worth the Money
I'm a cold sleeper and I also suffer from Reynaud's Syndrome which makes cold weather camping and bikepacking pretty miserable. I bought these pants to try and stem some of my misery once getting to camp when the sun goes down around 5pm and the hand warmers are just not enough. They are very light and packable and offered a lot of comfort in camp when layered over a pair of heavyweight long underwear bottoms. I ended up sleeping in them inside my sleeping bag (17 deg F down bag) when the temps were between 30 and 20 degs F. and they worked very well. Now I need to get the socks to go with them! I will note that they are made from a very lightweight material and not suitable to be worn around camp or otherwise without a durable layer over them. I believe that if treated well and worn appropriately, they will last a long time.
