The Prairie Dog is a minimalist ultralight camp shovel designed for backpackers. The patent pending design easily attaches to sticks or hiking poles like a spear tip giving the leverage truly needed to dig in hard mountain terrain. Extending the handle by 1-3 feet significantly increases digging power. 4 releasable nylon cable ties are included which can also be used as flex-beaners to attach items to backpacks, tents or trees.

It weighs as much as a standard sized Bic lighter, 0.7oz (unpackaged weight) and can be used to dig with either the wide or narrow end. The narrow end is especially helpful for cutting through roots and prying out rocks. Its thin profile cuts through soil like a knife and makes it easy to pack. Made from incredibly strong aerospace 7075-T6 aluminum to withstand the abuse of tough mountain soil over time.
