Description:

Designed using CLIMASHIELD™ APEX synthetic insulation, the Convert APEX is a high value hybrid sleeping bag that combines great all weather performance and versatility in a low-cost package. It shares the same buckles and straps as our bestselling Revelation quilt, a full length zipper, double draft blocking tubes and reinforced zipper backing more common to a sleeping bag. The zipper can be used down the center, on the left, or the right side so it is always accessible. Our Convert line is designed for those who want to try the versatility and relaxed feel of a quilt, but aren’t quite ready to give up the familiarity and security of a traditional sleeping bag.

Want to sleep next to your partner? Multiple same length Converts can be zipped together to form a larger sleep system (though for a quilt specifically designed for two, check out the Accomplice).

The Convert APEX does it all, while still being one of the lightest synthetic sleep systems on the market!

Better than a bag

I've used down bags for a while and always appreciated the warmth, lightness, and small packed size. Yet a wet down bag is a misery. Also, when my bag was too warm, I unzipped it 2/3rd of the way, stuck my feet in and used it like a quilt anyway. But when I did that the hood was never in the right place and slid off to one side -- a warm beanie and neck gaiter were needed anyway. The hood didn't make much sense unless it was really cold. The Convert Apex has converted me. No hood, little concern over it taking dew, better ability to wash it, and not very expensive. I was concerned that it wouldn't pack so small, yet my regular/wide/30degree Convert still stuffed into a 9 liter sack and the extra couple of ounces is balanced out with lower initial cost, less hassle cleaning it, and less concern about wet conditions. The Convert just fits how I sleep and is even useful at home on my bed. I'm very happy with my purchase and will leave the down bag at home when I thru-hike the John Muir Trail.

New to Quilts and loving it

I was able to take my new Convert Apex out on the trail for 6 nights on the Pacific Crest Trail. For this trip the weather cooperated and thus my 20 degree rated quilt was much more than I needed; but I was warm. I tried it both as a bag and as a quilt and it worked great. I tend to roll around at night from both sides to back to front and the hoodless design along with a Balaclava was super nice; I never woke up with my face buried in the hood trying to figure out where the opening was. I lost a pound and gained at least 10 degrees over my old bag. Construction and quality are very nice and so much so I am considering ordering another one with a higher temperature rating. I am looking forward to zipping them together. The inside fabric is very comfortable and warms up in a snap. In all a very nice sleeping system with many options depending upon the night ahead. The only down side is the stuff sack is rather large but support says smash it as small as you can.
