The Convert is designed for those who want to try the versatility and relaxed feel of a quilt, but aren’t quite ready to give up the familiarity and security of a traditional sleeping bag. When it’s cold, cinch down the sides with our pad attachment system, or close the full length zipper to use as a sleeping bag. When it’s warm, open the zippered footbox completely and use it like a blanket. Build your Convert to meet your performance needs, without carrying any unnecessary weight.

Want to sleep next to your partner? Multiple same length Converts can be zipped together to form a larger sleep system (though for a quilt specifically designed for two users, check out the Accomplice). The Convert does it all, while still being one of the lightest sleep systems on the market!

  • Full length zipper, with double draft blocking tubes, to allow for use as a quilt or sleeping bag.

  • Pad attachment system for quilt mode, using elastic straps, and clips on each side of the Convert, to keep you securely on your pad, and give you the ability to cinch down the sides on those cold nights.

  • Snap and drawstring neck closer, fits securely around your shoulders to fine-tune draft control.

  • Tapered full length vertical baffles keep the down where you need it, all night long.

  • Half taper design to minimize weight while reflecting the natural shape of the human body.

  • Ethically sourced down from an RDS certified supplier that verifies that none of the down in the supply chain is acquired through live plucking or forced-feeding.

  • Zero PFC DownTek treated down which helps the down resist moisture longer, and dry out quicker if it does get wet.

  • 10D fabric made of a customized, lightweight and durable nylon that offers breathability and comfort.

  • Optional 20D ripstop nylon that has been customized to increase comfort and offers higher durability and water resistance.

  • Optional 7D micro ripstop nylon for lowest weight options.
  • Fabric colors may appear different from images shown due to rendering and monitor differences. Read more about our Fabrics.

  • Handmade in Winona, Minnesota.

Love our Convert!

My husband and I ordered a 0 degree Convert a year ago and after using it on extended backpacking trips and ski trips and being so very pleased I thought it a good time to add my 2 cents. We love this bag! It is so warm and light and versatile. We took this bag on a 2 week backpacking trip in the Alaska Range last August, which turned out to be the 4th wettest August on record. Everything was soaked! We did our best to keep the bag dry, but condensation in our pyramid tent meant there was always a layer of moisture on the outside. But we didn't know it until we woke up in the morning and saw it- we were toasty warm under an amazingly still lofted down bag. I love that I can use it as a single fully zipped bag or we can use it as a shared quilt.
We've had several jealous friends eye it up now and all we can say is go get your own from EE! Can't say enough about how great this bag is! Thanks Enlightened Equipment- you've taken our ultralight backpacking in Alaska to a whole new level!

Custom Convert

My wife and I finally upgraded from our synthetic mummy bags this year and the convert custom has been hands-down the best gear purchase/investment we can remember making in the recent years of working to upgrade our equipment. We have used the bags in MN in August (quick overnight test run in 65F), a 7 day backcountry elk hunt in MT in September (overnights averaged around 25F), and then again in MN for hunting/camping in November (overnights averaged around 20F). I purchased a wide, 0F bag and my wife purchased a regular, -10F bag. In the temperatures we have used them in, they have been absolutely amazing. Lightweight, super-packable and unbelievably warm/comfortable in a variety of temperatures. The versatility in temperature control/comfort of these bags compared to a traditional bag is unbelievable. We have never slept so well and so warm on our adventures!

As others have stated, we have both noted that the lightweight zipper catches the adjacent material somewhat easily, but have not had enough of an issue getting in/out to change our overall review/rating. Highly recommend the convert to anyone looking for a great bag that still maintains the "traditional" sleeping bag feel/experience. Look forward to many years in these bags! Worth every penny.
