Description:

The Enigma is the ideal minimalist quilt when weight and simplicity are critical. This quilt specifically features a sewn-closed 3D footbox that provides ample room for your feet while limiting dead air space that needs to be heated. When it’s warm, use it like a blanket and kick your foot out. When it’s cold, cinch down the sides with our pad attachment system. Build your Enigma to meet your performance needs, without carrying any unnecessary weight. The Enigma is the simplest quilt available and is perfect for hikers, canoeists, kayakers, climbers, and cyclists who need minimal weight and maximum warmth.

Details:

  • A sewn-closed 3D footbox minimizing weight and maximizing warmth.
  • Pad attachment system using elastic straps, and clips on each side of the quilt, to keep you securely on your pad, and give you the ability to cinch down the sides on those cold nights.
  • Snap and drawstring neck closer, fits securely around your shoulders to fine-tune draft control.
  • U shaped baffles keep the down where you need it, all night long.
  • Half taper design to minimize weight while reflecting the natural shape of the human body.
  • Ethically sourced down from an RDS certified supplier that verifies that none of the down in the supply chain is acquired through live plucking or forced-feeding.
  • Zero PFC DownTek treated down which helps the down resist moisture longer, and dry out quicker if it does get wet.
  • 10D fabric made of a customized, lightweight and durable nylon that offers breathability and comfort.
  • Optional 20D ripstop nylon that has been customized to increase comfort and offers higher durability and water resistance.
  • Handmade in Winona, Minnesota.

Warm and Dry

Most other sleeping bags I've used have always been wet from condensation in the morning. Not my enigma, it's always bone dry even when humid out. Nice and warm every single night, compresses and bounces back without issue every night.

The best piece of gear I own

I bought this for a 12 day hike in the Adirondacks in the fall and it did NOT dissapoint! I can easily say this is the best piece of gear I own. I put it in a 10L waterproof compression sack with side straps and stored my sleep clothes/socks/down puffy in there. All that stuff compressed down to about 10 × 6 and the quilt itself compresses down to smaller than football. The coldest temps I used it in was about 30 degrees. I got the 10 degree wide/short version so it was more than enough warmth and I was toasty all night - every night. Admittedly I sleep VERY cold so I wasn't even sure a 10 degree quilt would keep me warm at 30 degrees. But it did! (I have a 30 degree rated synthentic bag that feels chilly at 45.) I slept in a regular acrylic winter hat and was fine. I was using a pad with synthetic insulation and an R value of 4.9 and I was never ever cold. I also used the top strap under the pad so there were no spots that were drafty. And the 20D nylon was fine both in leantos and on my tent floor. I woke up dry every morning even when I was camping in places where condensation and morning fog were heavy in the air. (If you know the Adirondacks you know how water can pack in off the lakes in the morning when you aren't above treeline.) The best part was the 20 oz. weight. My previous shoulder season bag was more than 2 lbs heavier than the Enigma. When you have to make 15-20 miles per day, dropping that weight is a HUGE help. Thank you so much for the incredible piece of gear.
