Weird Fit, But I Love Them Nonetheless

I bought a pair of these mittens out of the warehouse, and I love them enough I'd probably pay retail for them. They're wispy lightweight and they pack so small I can cram them into a tiny space. I spent the last weekend on a wet, cold, & windy hike in the Washington Cascades, and I wore these mittens 85% of the time. The fit is weird, though. I suspect it's because the liner isn't sewn through to the exterior (this makes for a warmer mitten) and the fabric is so lightweight that it doesn't maintain its shape (lightweight & easily packable). Those are fair trade-offs. But it meant my thumb frequently wasn't lined up with the thumb of the exterior, making gripping things difficult. I had to reposition the exterior of the mitten often. And because the fabric is so wispy, once my hands were wet it was more difficult to get my hands into the mittens. Despite this, I love these mittens and I recommend them.

pretty good for winter biking

I loved the Torrid Jacket I bought so I got some of these gloves too. I like them but not as much as the jacket. They work well for snowblowing and walking, but I wanted them mainly for winter bicycle commuting. The flip-top feature works pretty well but I'd like more overlap at the junction between the top and bottom. While biking the junction tends to crumple and open up a little. Not badly, but it would be nice to have another half-inch of overlap. I wear them with a hand-warmer packet on sub-freezing days.
