Ultralight Pack Canoe Paddle

The SAGA Ultralight Pack Canoe Paddle is the product of over 10 years of testing and refinement. Our founder built a similar paddle for his own use in 2014 to use with his Hornbeck classic 14 pack canoe.  In the following years he made slight changes and additional paddles that he has used unchanged since that time. This paddle brings an update to the blade shape and design that increases efficiency by moving more water per stroke over the original blades used while still being incredibly lightweight and enjoyable to paddle. While this paddle could be use to paddle a packrat, a kayak or even a traditional solo canoe, it finds its place perfectly balanced for use with short and light pack canoes. Pack canoes blend the paddling position of a kayak with the open experience of a canoe and can be found to be extremely lightweight as a result. Paddling will feel effortless with the logo of the blade facing the user while slightly more power can be generated if paddled with the logo facing away, at the cost of some slight fluttering.   These paddles use thin .84” shaft diameter to both keep weight down and improve comfort. These paddles use shaft should be floated in hand instead as f grasped tightly. This reduces hot spots and hand fatigue while allowing a relaxed feeling to each paddle stroke.
