Enigma Custom Artist Series - Forager
Quilts make an excellent canvas for creativity. Our lightest and most minimalist sleeping quilt, the Enigma, has been reimagined to highlight the incredible artistry within our community. For our third Artist Series design, we are proud to introduce the Forager Sleeping Quilt, designed by Savannah Edwards.
The Enigma is the perfect ultralight quilt for those who always get cold feet. Exceptionally warm and extraordinarily light, the Enigma offers upper body freedom of movement while providing structure for your feet. The Enigma doesn't have a zipper or a built-in hood, saving even more space and weight in your pack.
The Enigma is a sleeping quilt, not a sleeping bag, which means it's designed to be used with a sleeping pad to provide insulation underneath you, between you and the ground.
About the Artist:
This design was inspired by my passion for mushrooms. One of my favorite hobbies with my husband is going out into the woods to find all sorts of unique and beautiful mushrooms, and taking home the edible ones to turn into something delicious. Every time I’m out there, I’m amazed by nature’s hidden intricacies scattered across the forest floor. Mushrooms come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, many of which you’d never notice unless you were truly looking for them.
Every mushroom featured in this design can be found in the Midwest, the home region of Enlightened Equipment, and many were drawn from photos I’ve taken myself. The color palette was inspired by the artist’s conk mushroom, a fascinating species that can be etched into to create art. I wanted each mushroom in the design to appear as if it had been delicately carved into an artist’s conk itself.
I’ve been making art since the day I could hold a pencil. My earliest inspiration came from my mom, who would spend hours creating in her little studio. She never made art for anyone but herself; she simply saw beauty in the world and wanted to express it. I used to sit at her feet for hours, just watching and being with her. I think that’s where I get it from. My three sisters and I all grew up surrounded by that same creative energy, and some of my favorite memories are of us sitting around the table together, each working on our own little projects: painting, drawing, or just making something out of nothing. Art has always been my way of observing the world a little more closely and capturing the details others might overlook. Whether I’m painting, carving, burning, or crocheting, creating keeps me grounded and curious. It will always be an essential part of who I am, bringing beauty and meaning to my life. I hope, through this design, to share a little of that beauty with others, too.
Can I have my art displayed on a quilt? Yes! If you'd like to submit original art to be a contender for future designs, go to the Artist Series Submission page.
- Not just Exposure: Those whose art we select to be future Artist Series designs will receive commissions for all quilt sales that include their art. More details within the submission page.
- Check the Rules: You can submit as many original designs as you like, but they must conform to our submission rules, or else they won't be eligible.
- More to Come: We hope to release more designs as fast as monthly, so give us everything you got, and check in for new designs for sale.
Is this a permanent addition? Yes, and no. We want to always have Artist Series Quilts available, but the designs are limited and not guaranteed to come back.
