Description:

The Enigma is the ideal minimalist quilt when weight and simplicity are critical. This quilt specifically features a sewn-closed 3D footbox that provides ample room for your feet while limiting dead air space that needs to be heated. When it’s warm, use it like a blanket and kick your foot out. When it’s cold, cinch down the sides with our pad attachment system. Build your Enigma to meet your performance needs, without carrying any unnecessary weight. The Enigma is the simplest quilt available and is perfect for hikers, canoeists, kayakers, climbers, and cyclists who need minimal weight and maximum warmth.

Details:

  • A sewn-closed 3D footbox minimizing weight and maximizing warmth.

  • Pad attachment system using elastic straps, and clips on each side of the quilt, to keep you securely on your pad, and give you the ability to cinch down the sides on those cold nights.

  • Snap and drawstring neck closer, fits securely around your shoulders to fine-tune draft control.

  • U shaped baffles keep the down where you need it, all night long.

  • Half taper design to minimize weight while reflecting the natural shape of the human body.

  • Ethically sourced down from an RDS certified supplier that verifies that none of the down in the supply chain is acquired through live plucking or forced-feeding.

  • Zero PFC DownTek treated down which helps the down resist moisture longer, and dry out quicker if it does get wet.

  • 10D fabric made of a customized, lightweight and durable nylon that offers breathability and comfort.

  • Optional 20D ripstop nylon that has been customized to increase comfort and offers higher durability and water resistance.

  • Optional 7D micro ripstop nylon for lowest weight options.

  • Handmade in Winona, Minnesota.

Lightweight, Warm, Snug as a Bug in a Rug

I bought an Enigma for a 8 Day Bike Tour through 1060km of Mountain Bike Trail (The Munda Biddi Trail) In Western Australia.

I bought a 30F Regular Length, Wide Quilt and for me at 6" Tall 80kg it was fantastic. Even though we got lucky with the coldest morning only 1 degrees Celsius I could sleep comfy in just my shorts. The straps holding the quilt to the mat were fantastic, Usually in a normal bag I ended up twisted, not in the Enigma It was the greatest.

The little Pull cord at the top made the button closure for the top nice on the cooler nights and I am glad I got the closed footbox as no socks were required.

The Quilt packed super well into my Revelate Seat Bag, packing down super small each morning and fluffing up really well each night. Would not hesitate to recommend these Quilts to anyone. So much better than a bag, super well made, soft and fluffy comfort of home while out on the Trail. My Wife is taking it on School Camp now! I Look forward to using it again next trip.

My only gripe is the Spec Tag Could have been on the outside of the Quilt not inside :P

A thru-hiker's dream

When weight and packability are absolutely crucial, when you'll carry a piece of equipment thousands of miles, and count on it to keep you alive in harsh temperatures, this is what you buy.

I bought mine for a PCT hike and it saved me so much space and weight that I was able to fit all my kit inside my pack without strapping anything externally. The quilt is expertly crafted, intuitively designed, and lovely soft. Even after being snowed on while cowboy camping at 11,000 feet, I simply shook it out and packed it in its dry sack; the next night it was totally dry and ready to use without hassle.

My only regret is not buying the long version. I'm 5ft11 and on windy nights I would want to be able to cinch it closed above my head and still stretch my legs out. Spring for the extra ounce of weight if you feel the same. The 20D weather resistant strips are 100% worth it, and I recommend black so it dries quickest in the sun, should it get wet.
