Designed by Kimberly Ross, the design of this shirt shows a stunning sketch of El Capitan, a cliff face known as one of the most beautiful views of Yosemite National Park. The retro/vintage look is completed with the phrase, "Oh, how I love to sleep outside!" down the right side of the shirt, and a sketch of a hiker waking up in their Enigma quilt!

All proceeds for this shirt go directly to Save the Boundary Waters, an organization striving to protect the over 1,000,000 acres of wilderness area in northeast Minnesota.

• Fabric weight: 4.2 oz/yd² (142 g/m²)

Blank product sourced from Guatemala, Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras, or the US.

We asked Kimberly a few questions about her design, her inspiration for the submission, and where you can find more of her future work.

Tell us about your design. What inspired its creation?

I sketched El Cap while in Camp 4 waiting for a lottery ticket for Half Dome. The weather was ideal, I talked to some really nice people, and ended up climbing and hiking in Yosemite for a perfect week. The drawing was inspired by being in a beautiful outdoor space, with likeminded people, and accomplishing an important hiking goal for me. Some of my favorite memories of that trip are waking up in the morning, stretching, breathing in that crisp mountain air and knowing that the entire day lay ahead of me.

How did you find EE? What made you want to submit to the contest?

I found out about EE when I was listening to an episode of the podcast Backpacker Radio. I’ve used various kinds of mummy bags for years, but I didn’t know about quilts. When I heard about how light they were, I was interested. I read a bunch of reviews about how well they worked and decided that I needed to try one out. I love my lightweight EE quilt and use it every time I hike. My friend inspired me to submit art to the contest when she sent me a link and said it looked like my kinda thing.

Are you a professional artist, or do you do it as a hobby?

I’m a working graphic artist and illustrator. I work at a local print shop during the day and draw a lot in my free time.

How can people find your art?
