Enigma
Purchased enigma 40 with wide option, have been out twice now in my hammock and have been very pleased with purchase. Very comfortable, packs easy and like that it comes with a Large storage bag. Definitely will Purchase another with lower temp for winter.
This is the quilt you're looking for.
This quilt is great! As of now, there are 37 other reviews saying the same thing so I'll just add, I really like this quilt. It's warm, it's light, it's roomy, not a stitch out of place. Just a great quilt!
Enigma (20F)
I bought my Enigma (20F) two years ago. It's comfortable, more natural to sleep in, and way lighter than my old mummy bag. Slept in 24 degree weather in just long underwear and socks, was toasty warm. I love it, and shaved +2 lbs from my pack weight.
Versatile and Comfortable
This quilt functions amazingly in the field. It is ultralightweight and it's versatility is superb. You can open it up for ventilation when you first go to sleep and then close it up in steps as the night gets colder so you stay in a comfortable temperature range all night long. Ditch your bag and get this quilt! You will be glad you did!
Highly Recommend
Went to Yosemite in 20 degree weather and this quilt was perfect. I highly recommend this to anyone. It's priced well and it's better to buy once than testing cheaper equipment. The closed toe box was perfect for me and the length of the quilt was great, I am 6'3 and the long wide was exactly what I needed. Great product
After a long research I decided to switch from a sleeping bag to a quilt . I decidee to go for Enigma 20 quilt and I am really satisfied with my choice.
I had the chance to try it on a week long backpacking trip this fall and I really like it.
On some nights there were almost negative temperatures and I could put it to the test.Once you figure out how to adjust the strap system you won’t have any cold air drafts getting in(you also have the option to fully close it if not using the straps).
It also solved my main issue I had with the sleeping bags since the strap system gives you more room to move around (I move a lot when I sleep).
Also it weighs nothing and it’s a great choice for ultralight backpacking.
Definitely recommended.
Warm in the Fall weather in Yukon
I'm a petite short female hiker I'm 5 feet 3 inch height. I have both a Regular/wide since I wanted my Enigma to cover me up to my head entirely in case I get cold and the reason I went with wide is because of I toss and turn in my sleep.
I both the Enigma Stock (-12C) for a hiking trip to the Yukon in the fall since I needed a warm sleeping bag but need it to be light. To be honest, I was hesitant in buying a quilt since I was worried it wouldn't be warm or have cold air coming from the sides from me moving in my sleep.
Pros:
Warm for -10 C
light and small compact
Fast shipping come from Canada Winnipeg took 5days!
includes a storing bag and a small bag for hiking
Quilts are fantastic for people who move allot in there sleep
Cons:
I wish the string cored around the neck were an elastic instead
Small bag wish it was a waterproof compression bag
Wish that the Enigma Stock had the -17C option
Advice:
buy in dark color for quick drying if the quilt gets damp
Wear a hat in cold weather
Wait for Black Friday to save on money quilts
30 degree quilt
I am beyond satisfied with this quilt! I was skeptical about purchasing the 30 degree quilt as I was planning on spending multiple nights in The sawtooth mountains at 9k ft in September. The temperatures got down to 34 degrees and I was completely warm, my feet especially which is usually the first to go. The loft in this bag in unbelievable, and the comfort level is unmeasurable. The quilt comes with a very nice strap system that you can configure in different ways, as well as a top button closure for colder nights. I would honestly take this bag with temps in the high 20’s to low 30’s without hesitation. I will be purchasing a 10 degree quilt for the winter. I am completely sold on this system
Enigma 20 stock
I used the Enigma 20 stock for a 3 night backpacking trip in Rocky Mountain National Park in late August (with overnight temps in the upper 30s / low 40s). I found it to be a excellent alternative to a regular sleeping bag. I liked the ability to adjust the straps to regulate the temperature inside the bag when I got warm. The quilt is very light and took up little space in my pack. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase so far.
I'm 5'8 and 170 lbs. I found the regular/regular to work well for me, even though I am a side sleeper.
Enigma Quilts
Loving my new enigma. Had it on several outings and really pleased with it. Can’t beat the weight.
Great service quick delivery
Shipping of the stock quilt was amazingly quick, nicely packed and came in perfect condition.
It was put together in a very quality way.
It came with a storage bag with all of the specs marked on it.
Great Product, would definitely purchase again.
Thanks for the great service!!!!!
Enigma
Ultralight and ultra comfy
One of My Better Gear Decisions
I struggled with the idea of moving from a sleep bag to a quilt. I spent several nights with my old North Face Blue Kazoo unzipped so I could use it in "quilt fashion." Overall, I think a quilt better suits the way I sleep which involves moving from my back to either side throughout the night. I found that I was often getting twisted up in my mummy style sleeping bag. By this point, I had narrowed my quilt choices down to the Enigma or the Revelation. I initially liked the idea of being able to unzip the toe box and have a flat quilt. However, after talking to owners of the Revelation, they told me they never unzipped the toe box so I went with the Enigma. I like the light weight and how small it packs down. I use the Zpack medium plus pillow dry bag. So far I think the Enigma is one of my better gear decisions.
Enigma
This was everything I was expecting! After doing extensive research I decided I would try a quilt in the hopes of ditching the sleeping bag. The Enigma is so light. I love the warmth as well. The quality is fantastic.
Sleeping Quilt
I wish I could give 6 stars!!! Blown away by the shipping speed and overall quality of the product!!!
Enigma Quilt
I love this quilt! As someone who is a cold sleeper, the first night I used it was in some below freezing temperatures and never once felt cold. Having the flexibility to move around in the middle of the night, as I'm a tosser in nature, I never felt constricted like I normally do in a traditional mummy bag. I can honestly say, it's the best night of sleep I've ever had while in the wild.
Enigma Quilt
I ordered this quit from Australia and it arrived within a week of ordering. Its everything i could ask for and more. So fluffy, so full, such nice material and I am very excited to try it out in the field on my big trip next week! Very roomy foot box which is an added bonus!!
Thanks so much EE
Enigma Quilt
I love how light and yet warm this quilt is.
My new EE quilt
Purchased another brand before a bike-packing trip. Breaking it in watching TV one night, and noticed fill was gone in one section -- inner and outer fabric were touching. Seemed like just not enough fill. Returned the product, but needed quick replacement. Purchased stock 30 quilt.
Slept on trip in low-40s. One other guy froze, said, "I didn't sleep at all last night."
I felt terrible for him, as I'd slept warm and toasty. Even got up at 5 to do some business, and had myself convinced I wouldn't get back to sleep. Awoke at 7.
EE Enigma Quilt - Amazing
A truly great piece of kit. Great feel against the skin and feels warm as you first get in even on the coldest night. Drys out quickly and really comfortable. Very happy that I decided to ship this internationally!
Enigma
What a great product. Am currently waking Camino de Santiago as it has been perfect.
Best you can get
This is an amazing quilt. Perfectly comfortable, warm and extremely light. I am not sure what else you could ask for. I will purchase again.
Enigma Stock 10 degree, 850 fill
This is a fabulous bag. Didn't get cold, although only in the 40's at night I simply tucked the sides under me, rather than uses the straps. Love the roomy foot box and with a fresh, dry pair of sox my feet never got cold. The quality of stitching is excellent and I was happy to see the gusset where the sides of the quilt go down into the foot box. I didn't remember that the storage bag is organic cotton, so that felt like a bonus, fits in with my environmental consciousness. Didn't feel any cold spots and I can't wait to try this out on my Rae Lakes trip at high elevation and expected cold nights - I'm not worried! Thanks EE.
Enigma 20, excellent product
My partner and I both used new Enigma 20s on a piece of the Continental Divide Trail in Colorado in mid-September. Most nights were spent at over 11k feet, sometimes subject to high winds. Not sure what the lowest temperatures were but even with howling wind outside, we were both toasty in these quilts.
We had never used quilts before but we are sold. Some nights I just kept it hooked together and was able to stay cocooned despite tossing and turning, other nights I attached it to my sleeping pad and it stayed in place fine - both methods were sound.
Warm, versatile, and stupidly lightweight -- 5 stars
Great peice of gear
I was very skeptical buying my first quilt because I thought that not having a hood or down underneath me would make me very cold, but oh man was I wrong! I used the 20° enigma on a 4 day backpacking trip in Colorado sleeping between 10,000 and 11,600 feet and not once did I feel cold at night. On the first night, I woke up at around 3am and my thermometer said it was 19° F outside and I felt toasty warm inside my quilt. I wasn't even wearing any thermal underwear or socks. All I had on was a lightweight wool balaclava, a button down shirt and a pair of running shorts. I am so happy I purchased this quilt and will continue to use it on all my upcoming trips. No more heavy mummy bag for me.
Enigma 10* regular/regular
WowWow!. I must say I was skeptical about this quilt keeping me warm on my backpack trip to Sequoia NP. I froze my ass off when I was there in June with my sleeping bag. The first night I was TOO hot. It was in the high 30's and I had on a pair of socks, a light pair of leggings, and a tank top. I did have a sleeping bag liner just so I wouldn't be laying directly on my pad. The second night mid 30's. Warm, warm and warm. I had practiced before I left to make sure I knew how to attach it to my pad. I cinched it up and all was good. The third night was low 30's and hadn't changed what I was wearing to bed and I was toasty warm. I was going to order the regular/wide but a gal told me that with my size I'd be just fine with a regular/regular. She was right. I had plenty of room to move around and sleep on my side. I'm 5'2" and about 140 lb. I couldn't be happier with how this quilt performed. I don't think I'll ever go back to a bag. Thanks so much.
Enigma 20°
This quilt worked very well on my 11 day backcountry elk hunt in Idaho from Sept.5 -16. Very comfortable and light weight. I'm happy with this purchase and highly recommend.
Woot! Woot!
After, nearly a season of use, I am reporting my experience with the Enigma I ordered in Feb. of 2018.
I received the Enigma and promptly went over, inside and out, every stitch to find to mis-stitches, one requiring, my opinion, a dab of liquid stitch. I give the workmanship a 5 Star.
My first use of the Enigma came during early spring of 2018, when my wife continued her segment hike of the ICT (Idaho Centennial Trail). This spring’s section included the last of the Idaho desert, where there is nothing to break the wind. One evening, I was able to give support to my wife with the various road crossing along this section of trail, my wife could not get to sleep, because she was cold. I let her use the Enigma and she quickly warmed up and fell asleep. My first indication that I bought a good product was when, in the morning, my wife declared her down sleeping bag unsuitable and told me she was ordering an EE quilt. A 5 star moment
During the summer, I hiked from Rialto beach to shi shi beach and back. On an overnight stay at Yellow Banks, we decided to cowboy camp and sometime after midnight a fog banks rolled in to wet every exposed surface. The dry-down worked wonderfully. Another 5 star moment.
When I got the Enigma, I was a bit worried about the durability of the material. Frankly, I am rough on my gear and was concerned with how well the Enigma would hold up to my lack of special care. The Enigma has, so far, shown no worn form my treatment. Another 5 stars.
Overall, a well made product and worth every cent I spent. Thanks
Enigma 20 degree quilt
Just purchased my enigma 20 degree quilt and used it for a 9 day trip in the Stanislaus National Forest. Love, love, love it. I have always packed with mummy bags, and as I am a side sleeper and a restless sleeper, I always ended up twisted and uncomfortable. The quilt stays nicely in place with the strap around my sleeping pad. I didn't feel a draft, and could toss and turn to my hearts content without twisting up the quilt. It is soft, lightweight and comfortable. It packs down to nothing so uses little space in my pack. This first trip we had very fair weather - looking forward to using it again and seeing how it goes with colder nights - I am very optimistic. Highly recommend this product and this company!
Enigma 850 10 degree
I really love the Enigma! I had never slept in a quilt before but find it more comfortable than a normal sleeping bag so far. Although I usually am a cold sleeper I have never been cold with this quilt (using it down to temperatures of around -5°C in Kyrgyzstan in march).
So far I am super happy about this buy and would recommend the Enigma to anyone looking for a warm and super-light alternativ to a normal sleeping bag which I find can often feel confining and lacking in space during sleep.
In-Stock 10 degree Enigma
I absolutely love it. So far I have only taken the bag out to 25-30F and I slept so warm that during the night I took off my Hooligan hat I was sleeping in, and my face and head still stayed comfy. The loft is insane as mentioned above and it fluffs up to about a foot "deep" after being stuffed into the bottom of my pack all day. The straps work as advertised and keep the drafts away quite well.
I am Most Pleased with my purchase, and the Enigma is a favored piece of gear now.
Enigma 850 10 degree
Living in the UK we don't have the climate all year for light weight bags, so wanted something warm but light in weight. Only had the opportunity to use this once, got down to around -3c and wow I was sweating! So used to having layors on bit had to take them off. Craftsmanship shows through in the quality of this and for 200grams lighter than my Rab bag it is just sooooo much warmer. Would recommend to anyone wanting to lighten their load while been toasty warm!
Awesome
Going to be using the 850 10 d on my thru hike this year. Love the color and the loft is insane. very nice craftmanship. I really like this company.
Enigma 850 DT 10 degree
Just like Jay said above. Warm, light, and comfortable. A thru-hikers dream.
Enigma 850 DT 10 degree
I'm very pleased with my quilt. I was concerned about cold spots with a quilt due to another quilt I had that was not wide enough to block out cold drafts. I ordered the regular extra wide with concerns about being able to tuck it in enough. When I received this quilt, I tried it out and it was great, no problem with cold spots. I have confidence this quilt will work for me in any conditions I encounter. I'm going ultralight with my backpacking gear and this quilt is lighter than any other options.
Enigma 10
I purchased for a 10 day backpacking trip into the mountains in the Arctic Circle in September here in AK, so early winter up there. We had several nights that were in single digits and despite having a 10 degree Enigma, my partner and I (he was using a 0 degree feathered friends, compressed to a basketball size at best) had to sleep with the tent door open daily (helped with watching the northern lights and staying warm). I was very impressed with how much the bag compressed in my sea to summit sack, smaller then my 30 degree synthetic bag (id guess it was about 6x8in compressed and 21oz), and how quick it was to loft back up every day. We had quite a bit of moisture in the lower elevations and despite all the condensation in the tent, it readily shed all the water droplets and stayed dried. The quilt transition was easy and being a backpack hunter, this was a perfect ultralight option and very warm. I personally felt the bottom portion of the bag was light on down and upon returning contacted support. Tyler and the crew had me ship the bag back where they checked it out and doubled the down in the bottom panel for a small 10$ fee. I highly recommend and will be purchasing more of their products for earlier in the season.
yes
normally I don't click through to the review part when a company sends you the "please review this thing you bought" email but this quilt is the only piece of gear that I have zero complaints with and they didn't make me create an account to post this so there it is. In a few years when the down is too compressed I'm just going straight for another Enigma. Get one and stop googling "best quilt 20xx"
Fantastic
Warm, light, comfortable. Does not get any better.
Great!
I used this overnight, down to about 22 degrees F, wearing just running shorts and an R1 hoody and I was plenty warm I suspect with actual clothing you could get down to 10 without issue. The straps were great and easy to use with my sleeping pad. I managed to put them on in the middle of the night after rolling around and uncovering myself and realizing what they were for.
I have used this only for one trip so far, so I cannot comment on long-term durability yet, but it looks and feels well-made.
Customer service was great! This was a last minute trip and they were able to get the bag out to me in just a few days. No other manufacturer that I was considering would have been able to get me product anywhere near as quickly. These ready-made bags are a great option.
I'm 6'3" with 45" chest and opted for the long / wide size because I sometimes sleep on my side.
