review image 1 - someone drinking water with a quilt over their lap in the grass

As a longtime camper but new backpacker, this was easily the biggest investment I've ever made for a piece of my sleep system and I was quite apprehensive about it for that reason. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. I was blown away by the obvious quality right out of the box. It puffed up literally before my eyes. The footbox was very easy to assemble and cinch tight with the provided draw string and snaps. There was only the smallest of holes at the cinch point which plugged tight with a gaiter I had in my pack. To sum this up, I've never been more impressed with a piece of camping equipment.

I bought the 20 degree bag for backcountry wilderness hunts. I will say this bag performed flawlessly for me on my trip to Alaska when the temperatures dropped. It is very light and fits into my backpack nicely too. I looked at several different bags for a long time and I’m very glad I went with the convert system. It will definitely be going on many more hunts with me

I used this pillow for 9 nights straight on a hike in Patagonia. The most important thing is this pillow is very comfortable. I found it best to inflate it fully and then release a tiny bit of air to suit your preference. Inflating the pillow takes just a few breaths. Deflating is super simple and the pillow packs nicely.

Review Image 4 - a woman wrapping an Accomplice around her in the outdoors

The accomplice is a great quilt, it’s wide enough for my 5 year old to fit in and wife comfortably. Which isn’t the case with other competitors 2 person quilts, because they have a smaller foot box area. I first used this 0 degree quilt in 10-20 degree nightly weather and it was very toasty warm, it could have gotten 10-20 degrees colder and I feel as if I would still be nice and toasty. Overall very happy with the comfort and quality of this quilt and will be getting a summer accomplice in due time.

I love the attention to detail - it’s light weight / great colors / pad straps and materials. The versatility is amazing as well - I can use it as a quilt to add increased temperature to my warmer bag, as well as using it for a summer bag

Backpacking Sleep System FAQs

What is a backpacking sleep system? 1

A backpacking sleep system includes the gear used to stay warm and comfortable overnight on the trail. This typically includes a backpacking quilt or sleeping bag, an insulated sleeping pad, and sleep accessories like an inflatable pillow. Each component works together to manage warmth, comfort, and pack weight.

Are backpacking quilts warmer than sleeping bags? 1

Yes! Designed to deliver warmth and comfort, backpacking quilts are rated for a wide range of weather conditions, especially when paired with an insulated sleeping pad. Since insulation beneath your body becomes compressed, backpacking quilts improve thermal efficiency by focusing insulation on trapping body heat, while allowing better temperature regulation for different sleep styles.

Should I choose down or synthetic insulation for my sleep system? 1

Simply put, it depends. Down insulation offers superior warmth-to-weight performance and packability for dry backcountry conditions. Synthetic quilt insulation performs more reliably in wet environments and may be preferred by cold sleeper backpackers or those traveling in unpredictable weather.

How important is a sleeping pad in a backpacking sleep system? 1

A sleeping pad is essential for protecting against the cold ground and maintaining warmth overnight. Choosing the right pad with the right R-Value helps determine how well your sleep system performs in colder weather.

Can I customize my sleep system? 1

Yes. Our quilts can be customized with different temperature ratings, sizes, fabrics, and performance features so you can build a sleeping system suited to your trail goals and personal preference. For added customization, check out our custom quilts collection.

Why do backpacking quilts work well with a stuff sack? 1

Backpacking quilts pack down more efficiently, making them ideal for a stuff sack. Their flexible design allows them to compress easily, making a significant difference in pack size and overall carry.
